The Delhi Assembly on Thursday passed a resolution to put on hold the recruitment of teachers till a criterion is readied to give weightage to guest teachers, in accordance with a Supreme Court ruling. The resolution was moved by Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) member Rajesh Gupta. The move came after the Delhi Subordinate Services Selection Board (DSSSB) released an advertisement for recruitment of teachers stating the existing guest and contract teachers would get “age relaxation” for the number of years they taught in government schools. With over 27 lakh seats lying vacant in various engineering colleges across the country, the AICTE on Friday said it has decided to close down those technical colleges which recorded less than 30% admissions in the last five years. Marcus Hutchins, a young British researcher credited with derailing a global cyber-attack in May, was arrested for allegedly creating and distributing malicious software designed to collect bank-account passwords, US authorities said Thursday. News of Hutchins’ detention came as a shock to the cyber-security community. Many had rallied behind the researcher whose quick thinking helped control the spread of the WannaCry ransomware attack that crippled thousands of computers.
