If you still use Microsoft’s Internet Explorer, then be aware that there’s reportedly a major hole in the browser which could be an entry point for malware. Chinese antivirus firm Qihoo 360 found the zero-day exploit which as yet remains unpatched, and is apparently being targeted by a group of hackers at a global level, as reported by ZDNet. This group is apparently leveraging the exploit using malicious Office documents. When said document is opened, it fires up a web page in the background of Internet Explorer, which subsequently facilitates the transmission of malware from a remote server. The host PC…

If you have ever sat through the credits of a modern triple-A game, you will know just how much work goes into these projects, just how many people are involved – pages and pages of seemingly endless names scroll by as each experience comes to a close. Publishers such as Ubisoft and EA even use multiple studios to work on different aspects of games, perhaps getting a racing game studio in to tweak vehicle handling in an open world game, or getting FPS experts to fine tune the shooting.…
Microsoft is being sued by Infernal Technologies and Terminal Reality for the “egregious and wilful” patent infringement of the Infernal Engine. GamesIndustry.biz reports that the company is being accused of infringement of two patents (Nos. 6,362,822 and 7,061,488) pertaining to graphical lighting and shadowing methods. The filing states that game engines used in a number of Microsoft’s games, including Gears of War 4, Halo 5, and Sea of Thieves demonstrate this, and that “Microsoft’s knowing infringement […] has been egregious and willful.” According to the filing, Terminal Reality began working with…
International rugby-deprived Christchurch will host the All Blacks this year, in a feelgood “game of three halves” against Canterbury and Otago. After New Zealand Rugby dished out the bad news late last year that rugby fans in Christchurch wouldn’t see the All Blacks in a test there until 2020, or until the city’s stadium woes were sorted, it was confirmed on Tuesday the All Blacks will play there in August. However, Crusaders chief executive Hamish Riach said that while the match was “potentially very mouth-watering”, it was not comparable to a test match.”They’re not equal substitutes are they? The test matches are international rugby games and pinnacle events in our sport.”…
