You may remember Scrat, the hapless sabre-toothed squirrel from the Ice Age movies. All of his misadventures were related to his dedication to the preservation of an acorn.
There’s a similar comedic dynamic going on with Chuchel, which stars a ball of fur that battles anyone or anything that gets between it and its beloved cherry.
Created by Czech outfit Amanita Design, Chuchel is a point-and-click comedy adventure featuring a host of strange critters. Amanita is best known for making gorgeous puzzle adventures
like Machinarium, but this is the studio’s first foray into comedy.
Today’s trailer shows a lot of slapstick, which plays to Amanita’s decision to base the game more on situational and character-based humor than fiendish puzzling and pixel-hunting.
The pretty indie game will launch March 7 on Mac and Windows PC. Mobile versions are expected to follow.
Look out for Polygon’s review in the weeks ahead. In the meantime, here’s a preview we ran late last year.
