Delhi government’s proposal to take over 449 private unaided schools, after they failed to refund excess fee charged from parents despite government orders, will not impact the current students and teachers directly, officials said. The proposal, if approved by the Lieutenant Governor, will allow the schools to first reply to a show cause notice in two weeks on why the school should not be taken over by the government. The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has so far conferred over 11 lakh certificates to personnel of the Army and the Indian Air Force for completing their courses in different levels. Out of the total 11,28,754 certificates issued, 1,413 graduation certificates have been issued by the university under vertical mobility scheme, said Manjulika Srivastava, Director of IGNOU’s Defence Unit. E-commerce giant Amazon is offering refunds to customers who purchased eclipse glasses from the platform and warned them not to use the spectacles to view the total solar eclipse that will occur on August 21. A Russian hacking group “APT28” is targeting the hospitality sector globally and the Indian hotels and resorts must have strong Wi-Fi security in place to safeguard travellers’ data from being stolen, a cyber-security company said on Friday. The Delhi Assembly on Thursday passed a resolution to put on hold the recruitment of teachers till a criterion is readied to give weightage to guest teachers, in accordance with a Supreme Court ruling. The resolution was moved by Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) member Rajesh Gupta.
