BlackRock Chairman and CEO Larry Fink said Friday he’s more bullish on stocks than he was a week ago, but he believes crude hasn’t hit bottom despite the recent rally in depressed oil prices. “I think China has been acting a little more sensibly. They’ve been more rational. They’ve been more consistent. I think that’s really stabilized the [stock] market,” Fink told CNBC’s “Squawk Box” at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. “In the first few weeks [of 2016], we saw … some very large financial institutions selling. This week we saw buyers, starting on Wednesday,” he said. Exactly…

Check out which companies are making headlines before the bell: Travelers — The insurance company earned $2.90 per share for the fourth quarter, beating estimates by 25 cents. Revenue was slightly below estimates on weaker financial markets, but Travelers did report record profit for the full year. Verizon — Verizon reported adjusted quarterly profit of 89 cents per share, 1 cent above estimates, with revenue also beating forecasts. Verizon was able to limit wireless churn rates thanks in part to promotions, and saw subscriber growth for FiOS TV and broadband services. Southwest Airlines — The airline matched estimates with fourth…
The sell-off on Wednesday was absolutely hideous, but in Jim Cramer’s opinion — it wasn’t bad enough. “It’s not panic; it’s methodical. It’s not nuts; it’s algorithmic. It’s not erratic; it’s actually in sync with the rest of the world,” the “Mad Money” host said. As of Wednesday’s market close, the S&P 500 was down 9 percent for the year. At one point during the day it was down 12 percent, which was painful for many investors. “All that decline means is that our stock market is pretty much in line with many of the other markets around the globe,”…
High yield, no yield, loved by Wall Street or hated, every kind of stock has been pretty much slammed this year — leaving no place for equity investors to hide. Bespoke Investment Group dissected the names in the S&P 500 to see if it could glean which kind of stocks (value, growth, etc.) led this year’s declines, but it found just about everything in the index was off by 7 percent or more. It released a snapshot of its market findings Tuesday with the S&P 500 down 8.9 percent for the year. “There’s nowhere holding up right now,” said Paul…
Even though the U.S. stock market is off to one of the worst starts ever, hedge funds are buying the most equities they have in five years, according to data from one major Wall Street firm. Bank of America Merrill Lynch’s clients were net buyers of $2.3 billion worth of equities last week, according to its client trading desk data. “Net buying was chiefly due to hedge funds, who bought stocks for the fourth week in a row. Buying by this group was the largest since September 2010,” BofAML’s Jill Hall wrote in a note to clients Tuesday. Here are…
The 2016 edition of the Samsung Galaxy J5 has surfaced on Indian import database Zauba. The online document shows the Galaxy J5 (2016) has the model number SM-J510 and has entered the country for testing purposes on January 8. In terms of specs, the listing doesn’t reveal much. The display of the Galaxy J5 (2016) is the only thing listed and it’s a 5.2″ display. Resolution isn’t known yet, but we presume it’s going to be 720p, like the current-gen Galaxy J5. There’s neither a price, nor release date for the 2016 Galaxy J5. The midranger could be ready for…
