NEET Phase (II) 2016

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will be conducting the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) Phase 2 for admissions to under graduate medical courses across the country.

The examination is for 720 marks and has 180 objective type multiple choice questions to be attempted within three hours. It is based on three subjects – Biology (90 questions), Physics and Chemistry (45 questions each). A correct answer fetches four marks, while a wrong answer has one mark deducted. The candidates who are appearing for NEET Phase 2 can check the following points for the preparation:

  • As the examination date approaches, students tend to get nervous. Studying in panic mode is ineffective – take appropriate breaks and indulge yourself in your favourite activities to relax your mind. Excess stress leads to poor performance in the final exam. Hence, stay calm and give your best shot!

  •  It is very important to attempt mock test papers and previous years’ question papers (several options available online as well) to get a clear idea about the pattern of the exam. This will help in time-management at the final examination and will highlight your strengths and weaknesses

  • Finally, when exams are just a step away, it is essential to study the smart way. Go through important points rather than reading entire books. It is advisable to jot down the most important points when you are revising — this will enable easy recall at the examination
  • Keep a separate notebook for important points
  • Keep all important points, key words, formulae in Physics and Chemistry and scientific names in Biology enlisted in a separate notebook for last minute revision to avoid confusion and to save time

  • Self-confidence is essential to remain motivated and to achieve success. But overconfidence too is dangerous — be aware of your due strengths and do capitalise on them

  • There is negative marking for wrong answers. Avoid random guessing; however, an occasional intelligent guess after eliminating one or two options is worth the risk

  • Reach the centre well before the beginning of the exam
  • Once the question paper is distributed, quickly go through the whole paper once to get an idea of the questions asked
  • Remember to carry your admit card
  • Persist in putting a determined effort at the examination; every mark scored puts you ahead of the competition.

India Today Education team wishes students good luck for the examination.
