School attendance has immensely improved in India lately, especially among girls, following the construction and maintenance of proper toilets in schools.
An international study points out that girls’ participation in education has considerably increased after conducting a survey in 52 underdeveloped and developing countries.
At the seminar launched at the India Habitat Center in association with the Abdul Latif Lameel Poverty Action Lab (L-Pal). The international study also reveals that the construction of toilets has decreased the drop-out rate among students.
“The school sanitation and hygiene education programme in India is aimed at increasing latrine coverage in schools. The construction of toilets increased enrollment and reduced drop-out rates,” the report pointed out.
