The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has restrained the private schools from appointing principals or head of the school as the board has resolved to monitor the process of appointing principals.
According to a recent circular issued on Thursday, aspirants would have to qualify Principal Eligibility Test (PET) conducted by CBSE for principal position in private schools affiliated to the board.

- It has been made mandatory for the private schools to induct state government nominee or CBSE nominee in their selection committees for appointing principals or heads of the schools
- Following the direction, there will now be five members comprising the selection committee
- Of the five members, two will be appointed with the approval of the board or by the board.
