In a major push towards ushering digitalisation in the realm of education, the Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has introduced a new image technology called ‘Digi Scoring’ to read the answers marked on the Optical Mark Recognition (OMR) sheets.

The CBSE released a statement informing that the recruitment exam of Principals and Assistant Commissioners of KVS, held recently, will be evaluated via ‘Digi Scoring’.

“The new Digi scoring process is a clear departure from the earlier system of centre wise packing the OMR sheets for evaluation, manually transporting the sheets from across the country to CBSE with utmost care and confidentiality, setting up of scanning machines at secure places for data capturing and evaluation which involves at least 20-25 days for pre result processes,” said CBSE in a statement.

Why is Digi Scoring a better alternative?

While CBSE chairman R K Chaturvedi at a meeting announced the initiative, the CBSE meanwhile identified that the introduction of ‘Digi Scoring’ will save time in evaluating the exam papers.

Chaturvedi, commenting on the recent development, said that ‘Digi Scroring’ will allow the data of each examinee to be secured in a temper proof format without losing precious time, reported The Indian Express.

“This process is cheaper in terms of time and finances, explained Chaturvedi adding that the result will be prepared with accuracy, transparency and speed much ahead of the usual time frame,” added Chaturvedi.

Partnership with Digital India Programme

Following the successful implementation of digitalisation, the CBSE is looking forward to implement such methods in other examinations as well.
