Apple quietly rolled out a Mac security update to remove flawed software from Zoom partner apps RingCentral and Zhumu, according to a BuzzFeed News report. Now more than ever, workplace protocol includes posting on social media about your new job, promotions, the success of your business venture, your graduation, awards won, favorable media coverage, or any of your other major projects and milestones. But be careful—the emotional highs of sharing positive news can lower your contentment with your daily work life or lead you toward flashy but misaligned opportunities. New and big announcements generate a lot of “likes” from your network and create a buzz around your professional brand. That feels good. Researchers at UCLA’s Ahmanson-Lovelace Brain Mapping Center found that the reaction to likes on social…

Just as a computer needs an operating system to function to its full potential, IoT and network devices need firmware and all electronics need some form of software. If I’m driving home from Tennessee or Virginia, I have to come down the mountains and pass those super-dramatic run-off pits for trucks that don’t have no brakes. I have alwayswanted to see one, uh, get used. Oh yeah, there’s apparently an FIA-sanctioned truck racing series, and it looks nothing like NASCAR’s Camping World Trucks series (or, before you mention it, the shit-tacular Big Rigs: Over the Road Racing). Those are pickup trucks on an oval. These are unholstered…

Apple is testing a feature in its FaceTime video chat app that makes it look like you’re making eye contact with the person you’re speaking with, even if you’re just looking at the screen instead of the camera. When Sigmon is looking at the screen…
