A Russian-speaking hacker has been found selling stolen login credentials for a U.S. agency that tests and certifies voting equipment, according to a security firm. The hacker was attempting to sell more than 100 allegedly compromised login credentials belonging to the U.S. Election Assistance Commission (EAC), the security firm Record Future said in a Thursday blog post. With such access, an intruder could steal sensitive information from the commission, which the hacker claimed to have done, Recorded Future…

Nintendo is all set to release its newest hybrid gaming console, the Nintendo Switch, early next year with more details to be announced in January. A member of the NeoGAF forums has shed some light on a bunch of patent applications that were just published in Nintendo’s name. Sometimes we can see some of the planned functions of a product pass through the US Patent Office before it becomes a reality, but oftentimes, a patent might only live on as an idea, never to be realized. Among these patents, one of the sections (between 0507 through 0516) details the functions…

Federal Reserve Chair Janet Yellen wants to serve out her term despite pressure from President-elect Donald Trump. “I guess the way I think about it is that I was confirmed by the Senate to a four-year term. The term of the Fed chair was not meant to coincide with the president … I do intend to serve out my four-year term,” the central bank chief told reporters after the Fed hiked interest rates on Wednesday. The incoming U.S. president slammed Yellen on the campaign trail, claiming that she kept interest rates low in order to help the Obama administration, though…

Saul Loeb | AFP | Getty Images Federal Reserve Chair Janet Yellen arrives to speak during a press conference following the announcement that the Fed will raise interest rates, in Washington, DC, December 14, 2016. The portion of the Federal Open Market Committee statement on the economy wasn’t that different from the one released in November. They reaffirmed the continued improvement in the labor market. They did acknowledge the rise in inflation expectations within the TIPS market by saying they “moved up considerably but still are low.” Considering that the 10 year expectation is at the Fed’s desired 2 percent…

President-elect Donald Trump has vowed to repeal the Dodd-Frank banking reforms, which were designed to prevent a repeat of the 2008 financial crisis. Fed Chair Janet Yellen doesn’t sound happy about it. At a news conference Wednesday, the central bank leader defended the safeguards for the banking system. “We lived through a devastating financial crisis. Most members of Congress and the public came away from that experience feeling that it was important to take a set of steps that would result in a safer and stronger financial system,” she said. “I feel that we have done that.” The regulations have…

Yellen: Fed is not behind the curve  15 Hours Ago | 02:10 Federal Reserve chair Janet Yellen is trying to pull off a neat trick: Convincing the world that more rate hikes were warranted while not rocking the markets too much. The Fed had a delicate balancing act, which includes acknowledging the following: 1) That the economy continues to improve (they did, though they made no dramatic change in the economic assessment); 2) That inflation was a bit hotter, but not much—something they did by acknowledging that market-based measures of inflation had moved up “considerably but still are low” (“considerable” was…
