LG display has announced its latest mobile display. It sports the 18:9 aspect ratio, which is a first for a smartphone display, and a resolution of 2880×1440 pixels. Dubbed QHD+, the 5.7″ display is quite likely to be found on the LG G6. The new panel is thinner and lighter thanks to LG’s in-TOUCH technology. At face value the numbers make no sense. A monthly survey of homebuilder confidence in December released Thursday from the National Association of Home Builders spikes to the highest level in 11 years. The one-month move, entirely attributed to Trumponomics euphoria by NAHB executives, was the biggest in 20 years. One day later, the monthly numbers on home construction are released by the U.S. Census, and they tank 19 percent. So builders are super happy, but they’re not building more homes. There are several reasons why these numbers diverge. They actually used to track very closely, but right around the…

Mortgage rates have been heading higher since the presidential election, and they are already pricing some buyers out of the housing market. There is a way to get some of those buyers back in, if they are willing to take a little risk. The average rate on the popular 30-year fixed is at its highest in two years, but other mortgage options offer lower rates, namely, adjustable rate mortgages. These so-called ARMs still carry the stigma of being the villains of the housing crash. Lenders offered all kinds of “creative” ARMs then, some with no down payments, crazy-low teaser rates,…
