The directorate of education said that “participation was high” though there was no definitive figure on the participation of parents and students in the PTM.
The AAP-led Delhi government on September 1 organised this academic year’s first mega Parents-Teachers-Meeting (PTM) in its 1,041 schools.
According to reports, the comeback of class 10 board exam was the most discussed topic at the PTM.
Not only in building a bond between teachers and parents, the mega meeting aims to start a positive dialogue and it is hoped that parents will feel proud that they are also part of the several initiatives being taken by the AAP government.
The mega PTM was held in two shifts i.e. between 8 am and 12 noon in morning schools, and from 2 pm to 6 pm in evening schools that come under the Delhi government.
Here’s what Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said:
“It is evident that the parent teacher engagement which the government aimed to institutionalise through Mega PTMs has been achieved.”
“We are happy that this exercise, which used to be limited to big private schools, has now become an integral part of the culture of government schools,” Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia told Millenniumpost.
Meanwhile, a mother of a class 10 student went to the school to discuss the performance of her son as he would be appearing for the board examination next year.
“I had heard that Class 10 exams have been made compulsory again. The teacher explained to me that his attendance should be at least 75 per cent to be able to sit for the exam and that the exam will be from full syllabus. I have to make sure he doesn’t skip school,” she said in a recent HT report.
Further, Sisodia, who is also Delhi’s Education Minister, visited several government schools in Hari Nagar and Shakti Nagar.
“For class 9-12, schools informed parents about the changes notified by CBSE in the examination scheme like requirement of 33 per cent marks (27 marks out of 80 marks) for passing and inclusion of complete syllabus in end term/final examination,” a senior Directorate of Education (DoE) official said.
