Traders work on the floor of the New York Stock Exchange on Friday.

Friday was a day of big superlatives for the financial markets, with stocks, oil and bonds all posting significant negative milestones.

  • The Dow Jones industrial average fell below 16,000 for the first time since September.
  • The S&P 500, down more than 8 percent so far in 2016, is off to its worst start to a year ever.
  • WTI crude oil fell below $30 a barrel to the lowest price since 2003.
  • The 10-year Treasury yield breached 2 percent, a level not seen since the turmoil last October.

And that’s just the U.S.
