Asus struck gold with the ZenFone 2, which despite its naming disaster and veritable model chaos managed to deliver big in the value department with powerful hardware and an affordable price point. Naturally, fans have been waiting anxiously for the Taiwanese giant’s next step since and by all accounts, it should come in the shape of the ZenFone 3. We have already heard quite a bit about the handset, including some TENAA listings, talk of afingerprint reader and a suggested May or June release frame. However, the Zenfone 3 is still quite illusive and we’re not even sure whether it…

Emerging market equities are outperforming stocks in developed economies this year, but the trend could be short lived, Geoff Dennis, head of global emerging market equity strategy at UBS, warned on Wednesday. Since late January, emerging market stocks have rallied about 15 percent as the dollar has weakened and commodity prices have rebounded, Dennis noted. But UBS is not expecting the greenback to remain persistently weak, and does not think emerging market currencies have bottomed. “This is just a temporary trend, so we’re not really chasing this rally aggressively in emerging markets,” Dennis told CNBC’s “Squawk Box.””In fact we’ve had…

Apple analyst from KGI Ming-Chi Kuo, who has definitely proven a trustworthy source of information and predictions, forecasts year-on-year iPhone shipments will continue to fall in 2016. Furthermore, Ming-Chi Kuo predicts that Apple won’t be able to recover from its peak iPhone times and as a result the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus will see lower sales than its predecessors. The decline in sales for the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus is a result of the rise of replacement…

It doesn’t take a genius to realize that when you hit pay dirt, you might do so again if you keep digging in the same area. That’s the tack Dell takes with its redesigned XPS 15 laptop: It’s easily summed up as a bigger, more powerful version of the super-popular XPS 13. Bigger isn’t always better, of course, but in the case of the XPS 15, it worked out pretty well. Its body has the same aluminum top and bottom. The familiar carbon-fiber keyboard deck is there, too. Also like the XPS 13, this XPS15 features an ultra-thin “InfinityEdge” bezel…

Super-sonic signal: A signal from Transit-Amplifying Cells (TACs) activates stem cells in the hair follicle, researchers have found. Both types of cells appear in green (top), with TACs clustered lower down. The researchers identified the signal as Sonic Hedgehog. In experiments, such as this one (bottom), they disabled the signal, interfering with hair growth and regeneration. But scientists don’t fully understand what causes the cells to toggle between active and quiet states. New research in Elaine Fuchs’ Laboratory of…

Ingrown hair, also known as “razor bumps,” are a common skin condition, particularly in people whose hair has the tendency to curl back or grow sideways in a hair follicle. Women and men with coarse and/or curly hair are more prone to developing this condition, and it is more commonly seen in the African and African-American population,…

Last week Obsidian dangled the smallest scraps of a new project: Tyranny, a new isometric CRPG built in the Pillars of Eternity engine. A world where the battle between good and evil already took place, and evil won. Here’s the trailer again, in case you need a refresher: Pretty light on the details, eh? Luckily we got a half-hour demo of the project at GDC. The key takeaway: Tyranny might share the same engine as Pillars of Eternity, but that’s about all. This is a wild project. You’re going to miss it all Pillars of Eternity was built in the…
